Create or join a company
After confirming your account, create your company's workspace or join one with an 8-character code from your admin.
Van Line Pro is organized by company. Right after you confirm your account, you do one last thing: either create your company's workspace, or join one your admin already set up with a code. Everything you capture from then on lives in that company and syncs to the whole crew.
Before you start
You reach this screen automatically the first time you sign in without a company. The header shows a green "Account created" check, the title "One last step", and the line "Create your moving company's workspace, or join one your admin already set up." A segmented control lets you switch between Create company and Join with code.
Which one am I?
- Create company if you're the first person from your business in the app. You become the company's admin. Admins are the only ones who can change company-wide settings like branding and AI. See The three tabs.
- Join with code if someone at your company already created the workspace. You'll get an 8-character code from your admin and join as crew.
Note: Only create a company if one doesn't exist yet. If a coworker already set yours up, join theirs with the code instead, so everyone shares one workspace and one set of jobs.
Create a company
-
On the One last step screen, keep the segment on Create company.
-
In Company name, type your business name. The placeholder shows "e.g. Silicon Valley Moving".
-
Tap Create company.
Result: Your workspace is created and you land in the app as its admin, on the Jobs tab.
Note: The Create company button stays disabled until the name is at least 2 characters.
Join with a code
-
On the One last step screen, tap the Join with code segment.
-
In Company code, enter the 8-character code from your admin. The placeholder reads "8-character code from your admin".
-
Tap Join company.
Result: You join the existing workspace as crew and land in the app, sharing your company's jobs and library.
Where does the code come from?
The join code belongs to the company and is shown to admins in Settings. If you're an admin setting up a crew, find and share it there. See Invite your crew. If you're joining, ask your admin for the current code.
Start over
If you picked the wrong path or the wrong company, tap Sign out at the bottom of the card. You'll return to the sign-in screen and can sign back in to try again.
Good to know
- You're on exactly one company. An account belongs to a single company workspace. Choose carefully; use Sign out to back out before you commit.
- Roles are set here. Creating makes you admin; joining makes you crew. Other roles (Estimator, Office) are managed within the company.
Common mistakes
- Creating a duplicate company. If a coworker already made your workspace, creating a second one splits your crew across two separate workspaces. Join theirs with the code instead.
- Typing the code in the name field (or vice versa). Make sure the segment matches what you're entering, Create company for a name, Join with code for the 8-character code.
Troubleshooting
- "That company code isn't valid. Ask your admin for the current code." — the code was mistyped or has changed. Ask your admin for the current 8-character code and enter it again.
