Clean up names
Tidy every item's name and category at once with on-device Apple Intelligence, before you export or sign.
Clean up names runs every item through Apple's on-device intelligence to tidy its name into a concise, professional label and pick a standard category for it. It's a quick pass to run before you export or sign, so a scanned "Storage / Cabinet" reads as a clean "Dresser" on the inventory.
Who this is for: Estimators and admins polishing an inventory before it goes out. You'll need: An Apple Intelligence device (iPhone 15 Pro or newer) on iOS 26, with Apple Intelligence turned on.
What it changes
- Names become concise, standard, sentence-case labels.
- Categories are set to one standard category, which can also re-derive an item's weight from its cube at the new category's density, unless you've typed a weight by hand (a manual weight is never overwritten).
- It never touches condition or damage. A scan can't see damage, so pre-existing damage is left entirely alone. Damage comes from photo analysis and your review, not from this step. See How damage codes work.
How to run it
-
Open the job.
-
Tap the options menu (the ••• button, top right).
-
Tap Clean up names.
-
The app shows "Refining names…" while it works, then updates the list.
Result: Each item's name and category are cleaned up in place. Everything else about each item is unchanged.
Good to know
- It runs entirely on-device. No network is used, and no photos are involved.
- The option is hidden after signing. Once an inventory is finalized it's read-only, so Clean up names isn't offered. See Finalize and sign.
- Review the results. This is a cleanup helper, not a final authority. Skim the list afterward and fix anything that doesn't read right in the item editor.
Troubleshooting
- "Cleaning up names needs an Apple Intelligence device (iPhone 15 Pro or newer) on iOS 26, with Apple Intelligence turned on." — your device or system doesn't support the on-device model. Check that you're on a supported device running iOS 26, and that Apple Intelligence is turned on in the iOS Settings app. On unsupported devices, edit names by hand in the item editor.
