Job fields explained

A field-by-field reference for every job intake field, what it's for, why the shipper is the customer, and how the address search sheet works.

This is the reference for every field on a job. The same fields appear in the three-step New Job wizard and in the edit-job form, so this page covers both.

Job details

These fields cover the logistics of the move.

Order number (required)

The order number for the move. It's unique per shipment, so the app never pre-fills it and never copies it when you duplicate a job.

LOT number (required)

The LOT number for the shipment. Like the order number, it's a per-shipment legal identifier that isn't pre-filled or copied.

Starting item # (optional, defaults to 1)

The first inventory number for this job. Every piece is numbered up from here, and numbers are never reused. Set it to match the pre-numbered tag roll the crew is using. For example, if the roll starts at 236, set the starting item # to 236 and the first piece scanned becomes item 236.

Tag color (required)

The color of the physical inventory tags applied to this shipper's goods, so crews can tell one move's items from another's on a shared truck. The options are:

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • White
  • Gray

The picker starts on "Select…" until you choose one.

Load point (required)

Where the shipment is picked up, which drives crew logistics. The options are:

  • Residence
  • Storage
  • Agent Warehouse

Move type (optional, defaults to Local)

The kind of move. The options are:

  • Local
  • Interstate
  • International
  • Storage

Truck # (required)

The truck running the move. This field pre-fills from what the device last used, so the crew doesn't retype it on every job.

Agent # (optional)

The agent number, when your company uses one. Like the truck #, it pre-fills from the device's last-used value.

Note: Truck # and Agent # are remembered per device and per company, as a convenience. They are not part of the legal inventory. You can also set the device defaults under Settings › Inventory Default Information. Order # and LOT # are deliberately never remembered.

Shipper (the customer)

In the moving industry the customer is called the shipper. These fields are the shipper's contact details, and the last name is what files the job A–Z in the Library.

First name (required)

The shipper's first name.

Last name (required)

The shipper's last name. The Library groups and sorts jobs by this, shown as "Last, First".

Email (required)

The shipper's email address.

Phone (optional)

The shipper's phone number.

Important: "Shipper" and "customer" are the same person. The app labels the section Shipper and the field footer states plainly: ""Shipper" is the customer."

Addresses

Both addresses are required.

Origin address (required)

Where the goods are picked up.

Destination address (required)

Where the goods are delivered.

The address search sheet

Tapping an address field opens a search sheet backed by Apple Maps. It pairs live autocomplete with plain hand-typing, so you can capture things Maps doesn't know (an apartment number, a gate code) alongside a clean, verified address.

  1. Tap the address field. An empty field shows Add.
  2. In the sheet, start typing in the Street, city, state ZIP field.
  3. As you type, live Suggestions appear beneath it. Tap one to fill the field with a clean, mailing-formatted address.
  4. Or type the whole address by hand for anything Maps can't supply.
  5. Tap Done to save it back to the job, or Cancel to discard.

The footer under the text field reads: "Start typing and pick a suggestion, or enter the address by hand."

Note: Picking a suggestion also captures the map coordinate for the address. If you then hand-edit the text, that coordinate is dropped, because the typed address no longer matches the pinned location.
